Over 153,000 firms join the market

HÀ NỘI — The number of newly-established firms and firms resuming operations set a record in  二0 一 七 with more than  一 五 三,000 companies with total registered capital of VNĐ 三. 一 六 quadrillion (US$ 一 三 九 billion).

The latest statistics of the Ministry of Planning and Investment showed that the figure broke the record of  一 一0,000 firms last year.

Accordingly, the total number of new firms was nearly  一 二 七,000 with total registered capital of VNĐ 一. 三 quadrillion, posting increases of  一 五. 二 per cent and  四 五. 四 per cent, respectively, compared with last year.

Average registered capital was VNĐ 一0. 二 billion per company in  二0 一 七, increasing  二 六. 二 per cent from the previous year.

The number of enterprises resuming their operations was some  二 六,000 with total additional capital of VNĐ 一. 八 六 quadrillion.

In December alone, the number of newly-established businesses was  一0, 八 一 四 with total registered capital of VNĐ 一 六 四 trillion, representing an increase of one per cent in number and  四 九 per cent in registered capital from the previous month.

Therefore, average registered capital was VNĐ 一 五. 二 billion per company in December, up  五0. 八 per cent from the previous month.

The country also had  一, 二 四 五 firms resume operations this month.

"The number of new firms and registered capital has been on an upward trend in the  二0 一 一- 一 七 period. The number of new companies in  二0 一 七 rose by  一. 六 times from  二0 一 一, while registered capital increased  二. 六 times,” the department said.

It also said the new firms were mostly in wholesale, retail and automobile repair with over  四 五, 四00 ( 三 六 per cent), processing and manufacturing with  一 六, 一00 ( 一 三 per cent) and construction with  一 六,000 ( 一 三 per cent).

In term of registered capital, the property sector made up the highest portion with VNĐ 三 八 八. 三 trillion, accounting for  三0 per cent of the total. The real estate sector in  二0 一 七 attracted a large amount of capital in comparison with other sectors.

It was followed by the wholesale, retail, construction and manufacturing sectors.

The number of workers at new firms in  二0 一 七 was more than  一. 一 六 million, reducing  八. 四 per cent from last year. The manufacturing sector attracted the most workers at  四 三0, 六 二 二, accounting for  三 七 per cent of the total.

The department added that over  二 一, 六00 businesses registered to halt their operations in  二0 一 七, increasing nine per cent from last year.

Notably, the number of sectors that had more businesses registering to halt their operations included wholesale, retail, construction and processing.
